Seahawks vs Jaguars Best bet: Sam Darnold Over 247.5 passing yards (-114 at FanDuel)
Monday night’s game against the Chiefs was a thriller, but the Jacksonville Jaguars victory wasn’t a pretty one. And after starting the season against three fairly anemic offenses, we are starting to see a pass defense that resembles the one that struggled last season.
Jacksonville opponents are picking up nearly 72% of their yards through the air, the fifth-most of any team. Turnovers have helped this Jaguar defense paper over some cracks, but we’ve now seen Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy put up big numbers over the past two games.
Mahomes passed for 318 yards in the loss, but a crucial pick-six near the goal line proved to be a game-changing moment. And Purdy threw for 309 yards on just 22 completions, despite not having a go-to receiver who can take over a game.
But that’s not a problem for the Seattle Seahawks. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is having a stellar start to his season. His 534 yards are second-most in the NFL, and he’s fifth in the league with 34 catches. He’s also been highly effective, catching all but nine of his 43 targets.
He and Sam Darnold have developed quite the chemistry, but he’s not the only weapon at Darnold’s disposal. Cooper Kupp continues to be an effective receiver on the other side, while tight end AJ Barner broke out last week with a career performance. It’s a key reason why Darnold leads the NFL in yards per pass attempt.
Jacksonville has allowed the sixth-most passing yards in the league, despite playing the Panthers and Texans — not to mention a Cincinnati team that lost Joe Burrow.
The Jaguars are playing well against the run, which will put the ball in Darnold’s hands even more, and he will flirt with 300 passing yards in this one.
Seahawks vs Jaguars same-game parlay
We saw Trevor Lawrence make multiple plays with his legs on Monday night, not simply limited to the winning touchdown. The Seahawks are allowing less than 3.5 yards per carry on the ground, which should put T-Law in more third down situations.
Add in the fact that Seattle ranks Top 10 in sacks per game, and we’ll see him utilizing his legs a bit more again in this one.
It’s easy to write off the Seahawks because they’re playing in a 1pm game on the East coast. But history has shown that to be foolish, as they’ve won 21 of 27 such games over the past decade.
Seattle’s run defense has been very good, and the Jaguars are coming off an emotional win on a short week. Darnold will do what Mahomes couldn’t and hand the Jaguars their second defeat.

Zach Charbonnet has been the go-to back for Seattle inside the redzone, and last week against Tampa Bay he had just one fewer touch in the game than Kenneth Walker III. He was also on the field for 31% more snaps than Walker, as well.
He’s found the endzone in three games this season, including each of the last two, and has solid odds to do so against a Jaguar defense that struggled in the red zone against the Chiefs.
