Early Patriots vs Dolphins spread pick: Patriots +1.5
The New England Patriots are coming off a tough home loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, but are in a nice spot for a bounce-back when they face the Miami Dolphins.
The Pats' offense behind second-year signal caller Drake Maye gives them an edge in this AFC East matchup.
Despite the loss, Maye demonstrated solid poise. Meanwhile, wide receiver Kayshon Boutte will likely trouble a Miami secondary that allowed 272 passing yards and a touchdown to Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts.
Miami’s offense stalled mightily in Week 1 as Indy sacked quarterback Tua Tagovailoa thrice with a couple of interceptions. It won’t get any easier for him as New England registered four sacks with an interception against Vegas.
The Patriots may not have the sexy names, but they are getting points here when they likely shouldn’t and are worth an early bet to cover the spread.

Both teams’ Week 1 showings suggest a lower-scoring matchup in Miami.
New England moved the ball but stalled in key spots, converting just one of three red-zone trips and turning 336 total yards into only 13 points.
Miami fared even worse, producing eight points and 211 yards while Tagovailoa struggled against constant pressure and exactly the kind of defensive front New England brings.
The Patriots are still working through offensive growing pains, while the Dolphins’ offensive line stifles an otherwise talented unit.
Early in the season, defenses tend to be ahead of offenses, and this dynamic is especially true here, as the respective stop units will make it difficult for either team to score.
