Panthers vs Jets Predictions - Early Picks & Odds for Week 7

The Panthers are no longer a punching bag at 3-3, while the Jets exit a dismal showing in London to fall to 0-6. Our early NFL picks believe Carolina is the right side this Sunday.

The New York Jets will continue to look for their first win of the season when they host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, October 19.

Carolina has proven to be a far more competitive team in 2025, and I’m picking Bryce Young & Co. to cover in my early Panthers vs. Jets predictions.

Panthers vs Jets predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Panthers vs Jets spread pick: Panthers -1.5

-102 at FanDuel

Don’t look now, but after picking up only seven wins in the last two seasons combined, the Carolina Panthers are 3-3 and playing quality football most weeks. Carolina has won three of its last four games and has gone 4-1 ATS over its last five overall.

The Panthers will be in an unusual position on Sunday, as they haven’t been a favorite since last December. And Carolina is 0-3 on the road this year, having played markedly better at home.

But none of that should matter against a New York Jets team that doesn’t look close to winning games against competent opposition right now. The Jets are 0-6, and while they are 3-3 against the spread, they haven’t covered as an underdog of a field goal or less in two opportunities this season.

The Jets defense isn’t as horrid against the run as the pass, but still rates as below average — not great against a Carolina team averaging five yards per carry. And the New York offense isn’t doing nearly enough to make up for even moderate defensive lapses.

Carolina should be able to get its first road win and cover the small spread on Sunday.

Early Panthers vs Jets total pick: Over 43.5

-115 at FanDuel

While these aren’t two of the best offensive teams in the league, both have had noticeable struggles on defense. The Jets are allowing 28.3 ppg, which is second-worst in the league, while the Panthers haven’t been much better at 24.3 ppg.

That helps explain while these teams have been playing hard towards the Over. Carolina has hit the Over in three straight games, with New York doing so in three of four. In all of those cases, the final total was above the 43.5 number posted for Sunday’s contest.

There’s reasons to expect that both teams might find success in the running game, with both Rico Dowdle and Breece Hall capable of putting up big numbers on the ground even if their respective passing attacks have been underwhelming.

The Panthers are likely to find success in the air as well: Bryce Young is posting the best completion percentage and quarterback rating of his career in 2025, and faces a New York defense that allows 7.1 yards per passing attempt.

While Carolina will have the best of the action, both sides should find some offensive success. That’s enough for me to back the trend and take the Over.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
