Jayden Daniels is back, but our expert believes the Commanders don't deserve to be 3.5-point road favorites in this NFC East showdown with the Giants.

My Giants vs. Commanders predictions are backing New York to keep things close as a 3.5-point road underdog today, even with Jayden Daniels returning to the Washington lineup.

The Giants have been one of the NFL's early surprises under John Harbaugh, and a banged-up Commanders squad could struggle to pull away in today's potentially wet NFC East showdown.

Find out why I'm taking the points with New York in my latest NFL picks, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on FOX.

 TOP Pick
Giants vs Commanders prediction: Giants +3.5

Jayden Daniels is back, but there are still lingering questions — namely, can the Washington Commanders protect him, and who's catching the passes?

Laremy Tunsil remains out, Stefon Diggs joins him on the sidelines for Week 5, and Terry McLaurin is questionable. Antonio Williams is the only other Washington receiver with 10+ catches through four games.

That makes the New York Giants an attractive play, taking the points at +3 or +3.5 (playable up to 55%) with the visitors, who expect to have key trio Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo and Isaiah Likely available on Sunday despite injury designations during the week.

The Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last six games, while the Commanders are 2-5 SU in their past seven outings and have given up 30+ points in three straight contests.

Even with the Jameis Winston rollercoaster factored in, I like New York in this spot, not least because Washington is coming off a Week 4 trip to England.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Commanders are straight back into action after their London trip, and the last six teams to return from England without a bye week are a combined 2-4 ATS in that grueling spot.

Giants vs Commanders combo

Neither team has shown enough defensive consistency to steer me away from the Over, which is now 7-3 in Winston's past 10 starts. Instead, even in wet conditions, I see the Giants covering the spread by attacking a Washington team that's been stout against the run but is still allowing 30.5 PPG this season.

The Commanders' offensive spark would take a big hit if McLaurin is ruled out, but Daniels' mobility gives the hosts a chance to sustain drives against a New York pass rush that's only recorded three sacks.

Nabers' knee soreness made some headlines this week, but he'll be the No.1 option for the visitors as long as he's on the field. He's finished with 5+ catches in three of his four outings this year, and he can punish the hosts if they stack the box against Skattebo.

Giants vs Commanders combo

  • Giants +3.5
  • Over 41.5
  • Malik Nabers Over 4.5 receptions

Giants vs Commanders touchdown scorer: Malachi Fields

Malachi Fields has made such an impression in his rookie year with the Giants that he's been called on for at least 65% of the snaps in every game so far. That signals ample TD opportunity.

He scored his first career touchdown last weekend against the Arizona Cardinals on a 12-yard toss from Winston, and this is a nice price to repeat the trick on Sunday, especially with the Commanders giving up 14 TDs through their first four outings this season.

At 6'4, Fields is an ideal red zone target, and it's worth noting that Nabers, Skattebo and Likely were all on the injury report this week. I'd play this to +350.

Giants vs Commanders player prop: Jayden Daniels Over 29.5 rushing yards

With reports suggesting no limitations for Daniels this weekend, I'm grabbing the Over on his rushing yards in a contest where his legs are Washington's best weapon, particularly in the expected rain at Northwest Stadium.

The Commanders would be wise to cut back on the designed runs for their star QB, but there will be openings to take off if an undermanned receiver group is blanketed down the field.

Daniels has gone past this O/U number in six of his past seven games and in all three career meetings with the Giants.
