Chargers vs Patriots Weather & Odds Watch for Wild Card Weekend

That cold will have a greater impact on warm-weather teams or those that play in covered venues. The Chargers are both.

The New England Patriots secured home-field advantage for the Wild Card Round, which could make a big difference.

Sunday night sees the Los Angeles Chargers travel from California to face a cold winter night at Gillette Stadium.

My Chargers vs. Patriots weather report breaks down the forecast and its potential impact on the NFL odds for Sunday, January 11.

Chargers vs Patriots weather forecast

The Los Angeles Chargers will avoid any snow or precipitation, as snow showers passed through Foxborough earlier in the day. The current forecast calls for cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 20s ahead of their matchup against the New England Patriots.

With wind chill factored in, it could feel like the low teens as the night progresses.

Sustained winds of 13 mph WNW with gusts up to 20 mph will blow from sideline to sideline at Gillette Stadium.

How Chargers vs Patriots weather impacts the odds

With no snow or rain and winds barely reaching 20 mph, the field in Foxborough should be clean.

The weather won’t have any obvious effects on game action. That said, “feel like” temperatures range from the low teens to the low 20s, from model to model.

Historically, NFL games do see a downtick in passing production in games played at 25 degrees or below.

Los Angeles has seen its scoring dip in true road games at open-air venues this season, averaging around 19 points in those spots (excluding Week 18 when it rested starters).

Chargers vs Patriots bets to watch

As mentioned, the chilly weather is about the only factor affecting this market — and even that has only a mild impact.

I bet the Under 46.5 points for Sunday night, primarily based on the defenses. Neither team allows many explosive passing plays, and both offenses are comfortable grinding out shorter gains on the ground.

If the cold dampens passing performance any further, all the better.
