On the gut-punch scale, the Baltimore Ravens’ heartbreaker on Sunday night was a 10, and they’ll try to right the ship in Week 2 in an AFC North showdown with the Cleveland Browns.

Cleveland had blunders of its own at the weekend, and my early Browns vs. Ravens predictions expect the visitors’ defense to turn this into a scrappy battle in the trenches.

My top NFL picks dig into the early odds for this Sunday, September 14 clash.

Browns vs Ravens predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Browns vs Ravens spread pick: Browns +11.5

-105 at FanDuel

This Baltimore Ravens offense got whatever it wanted against the Buffalo Bills, shining in the SNF spotlight until the disastrous final minutes.

Baltimore will be desperate to make amends for that collapse, but it’s fair to wonder about a hangover from such a stunning loss, and I’m wary about laying the points with the hosts when the line is as high as 11.5.

The Cleveland Browns are 4-2 ATS in the last six meetings between these teams, and they’ve seen enough of Lamar Jackson over the years to know the task ahead on Sunday.

The visitors held Joe Burrow to just 113 passing yards in Week 1, and their front seven should pose Baltimore more questions than Buffalo did.

On the other side of the ball, Joe Flacco threw for 294 yards in Week 1 while getting the most out of his receiving group — including an instant connection with rookie Dylan Sampson.

It doesn’t seem far-fetched that Flacco — who led the Ravens to Super Bowl XLVII glory — could have one more big performance in Baltimore up his sleeve.

I expect the Ravens to move to 1-1 here, but it may not be as easy as the spread suggests. Cleveland can drag this game into the mud, so I’ll take the points with a line that keeps the door open for a garbage-time cover.

Early Browns vs Ravens total pick: Under 45.5

-110 at FanDuel

This pick comes down to the simple fact the Browns only scored 16 points against a subpar Bengals defense, and now they run into a much more talented Ravens unit that’s still smarting from giving up 41 points.

Similarly, Cleveland’s run defense can’t possibly be as hopeless as the miserable tackling we saw from Buffalo this weekend, so don’t pencil in Derrick Henry for a repeat of that 9.4-YPC effort here.

Dating back to last season, the Browns have nailed the Under in five of their past six contests, and we should see a heavy dose of the run game for both teams here, taking chunks off the clock.

The visitors held Jackson to 16-for-32 passing in the most recent matchup, and Myles Garrett’s ability to get into the backfield is one reason to expect Baltimore to cool off a little offensively.

The Ravens can move the chains in so many different ways, but I’m buying into what we saw from the Cleveland defense on Sunday.

Divisional battles can often defy the trends, and while these squads are clearly on contrasting paths this year, it would be no surprise to see this turn into an ugly, low-scoring fight, with a total in the low 40s.
