After tumbling out of the Top 25 with a loss last week, the Arizona State Sun Devils will try to bounce back against the Texas State Bobcats, who are 2-0 to start the campaign.

Despite the Bobcats putting up big scoring numbers and narrowly losing to these same Sun Devils a year ago, the books have ASU as hefty 17.5-point favorites in the college football odds.

Can the Sun Devils either contain or keep the pace with Texas State?

Let’s look at my Texas State vs. Arizona State predictions and college football picks for Saturday, September 13.

Texas State vs Arizona State prediction

Texas State vs Arizona State best bet: Texas State +17.5 (-110)

I know the competition level rises, but Texas State has been a wrecking ball through two weeks, averaging 530 yards of total offense in blowout wins over Eastern Michigan and USTA.

It’s been a jarring balance of offense, churning out 280 yards per game on the ground and 250 through the air.

There’s also the added incentive of revenge, after Arizona State barely escaped with a 31-28 victory almost exactly a year to the day they meet again.

The Sun Devils are coming off a 24-20 loss to Mississippi State. While Raleek Brown and Kanye Udoh each rushed for 100+, QB Sam Leavitt threw for just 82 yards and had two picks.

Even if he cleans it up Saturday, I like the Bobcats to hang around against the reigning Big 12 champs, who are still transitioning out of the Cam Skattebo era.

Texas State vs Arizona State same-game parlay

I know Texas State is going to feel the level up, but they’ve proven their offense can hang with these Big 12 heavies.

Last year, they posted 21 points by halftime, only to be matched by the Sun Devils.

The Bobcats have enjoyed the halftime lead in both of their previous games, while ASU is coming off a game where they just had three points at the half.

If you believe Texas State can cover (like I do), they’ll need to do some offensive work early, and this bet plays right into that.
