The LSU Tigers thought they had a genuine national title chance this year. Losing to Vanderbilt last week now has LSU one loss away from losing any hopes of even reaching the College Football Playoff.
Enter the Texas A&M Aggies. Their physical approach should wear out the Tigers late, if not also early.
My Texas A&M vs. LSU predictions and college football picks are more than happy to bet against the Tigers’ discord as this season nears relative disaster on Saturday, October 25.
Our best Texas A&M vs LSU SGP for Week 9
LSU’s offensive struggles have not been discussed enough. Perhaps some of them tie to Garrett Nussmeier’s vague injury, but scoring only 24 points last week at Vanderbilt was evidence that more underlying issues spark these struggles than simply Nussmeier’s strength.
Even without Le’Veon Moss, Texas A&M has continued running the ball. It has rushed more than an average team would in a given game state in three of its four SEC games, per CFB-graphs.com, excelling against Mississippi State and Florida.
The Aggies should lean on Rueben Owens II, just as they did in their last two games since Moss’s ankle injury. Owens had just six carries for 57 yards in A&M’s first two games of worry this season; he has since taken 31 carries for 120 yards in the last two games.
As the Tigers worry about Owens, their inability to bring down opposing quarterbacks may be exacerbated, allowing Marcel Reed to spring a couple of chunk gains of his own.
Texas A&M vs LSU SGP
- Texas A&M -2.5
- Rueben Owens Over 70.5 rushing yards
- Marcel Reed Over 31.5 rushing yards
