The Tigers are looking for their fourth SWAC title in the last five years, and they haven’t lost at home since 2023. When it’s been 750 days since you’ve lost in Jackson, it’s hard for bettors to look the other way.
The thing is, the statistical profile of these teams doesn’t warrant the number. I’ll bite the bullet and play the underdog in a game where the numbers are closer than recent history would indicate.
The Prairie View A&M Panthers have been effective under first-year coach Tremaine Jackson, who racked up a 30-9 record and a DII Championship at Valdosta State before moving to the SWAC.
His Panthers average 31.8 ppg on offense and 15.8 ppg on defense (+16 differential), whereas the Tigers average 33.9 ppg on offense and 18.4 ppg on defense (+15.5 differential).
It’s unclear who will start at quarterback for Jackson State with JaCobian Morgan questionable. True freshman Jared Lockhart has been a capable fill-in, but the Panthers allow just 5.3 yards per attempt in the air.

Prairie View has been on fire lately, winning its last three games by a combined score of 163-20. Cameron Peters provides a veteran presence at quarterback, so he should provide a spark in a game where offense will be hard to come by in general due to both teams fielding a tough defense.
