Week 2 of the college football season sees No. 15 Michigan travel to Norman to take on No. 18 Oklahoma under the lights.

This is the marquee game of the week, and our Michigan vs. Oklahoma predictions offer the very best angles you need when making your college football picks for Saturday, September 6.

Michigan vs Oklahoma Week 2 predictions

Michigan vs Oklahoma best bets

Clemson Oklahoma -5.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

Bryce Underwood played well in his debut last week, completing 21-of-31 passes for 251 yards (8.1 yards per attempt), but still the Michigan Wolverines relied on their ground game. And it was three times as efficient as the passing game.

If Michigan tries that again in Norman, it may simply lose a math problem. Oklahoma’s passing game should feast against a defense that was alarmingly susceptible through the air against New Mexico.

The Lobos found success on 43% of their designed dropbacks last week. That may not seem high, and it isn’t, but it is high for an offense like New Mexico’s against a defense like Michigan’s. For the quickest context, just looking at teams routed by the Big Ten last week: FAU succeeded on 27% of its passes against Maryland; Western Michigan 34% against Michigan State; Ball State 21% against Purdue. There are at least three more examples, none higher than 37%.

Clemson Over 45.5 (-115 at FanDuel)

If Oklahoma’s downfield passing game should dictate the terms at home, then the question becomes whether Michigan can keep up on the scoreboard at all. Enter Bryce Underwood.

He showed enough downfield explosiveness on Saturday against New Mexico, completing 21-of-31 passes for 251 yards (8.1 yards per attempt), to warrant some trust he will connect on at least a couple such moments against the Sooners.

Michigan vs Oklahoma prop pick

Clemson John Mateer over 241.5 passing yards (-110 at FanDuel)

John Mateer looked impressive in the opener against Illinois State, throwing for over 350 yards. Of course, it’s Illinois State, but we have the context of his gaudy numbers for Washington State before playing for the Sooners. He also showed instant chemistry with his pass catchers and comfort in the Oklahoma system. I projected this number at 249.5 and would play it down to 244.5.

Michigan vs Oklahoma TD pick

Clemson Jaren Karnak (+250 at FanDuel)

The 6’2” player grabbed five receptions for over 90 yards and immediately caught my eye. The Sooners are being coy about how much he’ll be used, but it’s clear there’s instant chemistry with Mateer. With that in mind, I expect him to be targeted more here. I’ll take a flier at this price point for an offense I fully expect to have tons of success airing the ball out.
