The Bulls have not been a great bet of late, but the RedHawks are an auto-fade with Henry Hesson under center, as our college football betting picks explain.

Miami (OH) visits Buffalo in a quintessential midweek MACtion battle on Wednesday night.

Both teams enter this matchup at 5-5. The RedHawks have dropped two in a row and are now without their starting quarterback. The Bulls have lost two of their last three games and have only covered one spread since the middle of September.

Yet, both teams are 4-2 in conference play, just one game behind first-place Central Michigan, making this essentially a conference title eliminator game.

My Miami vs. Buffalo predictions and college football picks explain who will come out on top in another wacky midweek MACtion matchup.

Miami (OH) vs Buffalo prediction

Miami (OH) vs Buffalo best bet: Buffalo moneyline (+100)

This is the type of matchup that midweek MACtion is all about. Two teams playing inconsistent ball, but ones that still have a shot at a conference title with a win.

Both the Miami (OH) RedHawks and the Buffalo Bulls are 5-5 overall with 4-2 conference records.

Miami has dropped two in a row after a 4-0 start in MAC play. Buffalo has lost two of its last three and has been one of the worst bets in college football lately, going 1-7-1 against the spread in its last eight games overall.

The Bulls are 1.5-point home underdogs for this matchup, and despite their ugly ATS record, I not only like them to cover but to win this game outright.

The best unit in this game is the Bulls' defense. Buffalo enters this matchup ranked 21st in the country in defensive success rate, 28th on dropbacks, and 22nd on rushes. They also rank second among MAC teams in opponent yards per play.

That Bulls defense will be a problem for Miami in this one. That’s in large part because the RedHawks will be starting their backup QB Henry Hesson after starter DeQuan Finn suddenly left the program prior to last week’s game against Toledo.

Hesson looked overwhelmed against the Rockets, going a dismal 11-for-38 for 147 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.

Buffalo has been burned by explosive plays this season. However, Miami doesn’t look capable of producing those at the moment.

The Bulls' defense gives the RedHawks the horns and leads Buffalo to a win at home on Wednesday night. I don’t hate the Bulls' defense to score a touchdown at +800, but our best bet here is Buffalo on the moneyline.

Miami (OH) vs Buffalo same-game parlay

While the Buffalo defense will lead the way here, the Bulls will still need something out of the passing game to secure a win here. QB Ta’Quan Roberson has been a little interception-prone the last few weeks, but he's been putting up a bunch of yards.

Roberson has averaged 243.9 passing yards over his last seven games, throwing for at least 208 yards five times over that span. Meanwhile, Miami has allowed 194.7 passing yards per game in conference play.

Roberson’s favorite target has been wideout Victor Snow. Snow has 49 catches for 622 yards and seven touchdowns this season. He also has two rushing touchdowns this season.
