Memphis vs Rice Prediction, Picks & Odds for October 31 — College Football Week 10

Memphis outclasses Rice across the board, and with the Owls offense in disarray, we like the Under on the game total, even if Jamari Hawkins has a good game for the Tigers.

The Memphis Tigers take to the road for a Halloween Night AAC matchup with the Rice Owls.

The Owls offense has been inconsistent, and my Memphis vs. Rice predictions expect a low-scoring clash in Houston.

Memphis vs Rice prediction

Memphis vs Rice best bet: Under 50.5 (-115)

The Memphis Tigers are one of the most consistent defensive teams in the AAC, allowing just 20 points per game and ranking among the league’s best in red-zone efficiency and takeaways.

The Tigers have held opponents to fewer than 24 points in five of their last six contests and surrender only 130 rushing yards per game, which gives them an edge against a Rice Owls group that relies almost entirely on its ground game.

Offensively, the Owls have been dreadful, averaging just 103.6 passing yards per game and 21.9 points per game because quarterback Chase Jenkins is struggling to stretch the field.

Rice’s one-dimensional ground game will make sustaining drives nearly impossible against Memphis’ disciplined front seven.

The Owls defense is their saving grace. They’ve allowed 217 passing yards per game and 4.1 yards per carry, which is why they’ve held five opponents Under 28 points this season.

Expect Rice to get enough stops to force Memphis into long, clock-winding drives, keeping the Tigers from a major rout, and for this game to end Under the total.

Memphis vs Rice same-game parlay

Memphis wideout Jamari Hawkins averages three receptions per game and 18 yards per catch. Hawkins has caught more than 41 receiving yards in six of his previous eight games.

The Tigers are 7-1-0 ATS this season, while the Owls are just 1-3-0 ATS at home. The Memphis defense is its calling card, and it should get enough stops to comfortably cover the spread.
