Two historical Hoosier State Big 10 rivals will compete for the Old Oaken Bucket on Friday night when the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers travel to West Lafayette to take on the 2-9 Purdue Boilermakers.

The Hoosiers are looking to complete their first undefeated regular season since 1945 against a Boilermakers team that has lost nine consecutive games overall and 17 straight conference games.

Find out why my Indiana vs. Purdue predictions and college football picks for Friday, November 28 are fading Fernando Mendoza.

Indiana vs Purdue prediction

Indiana vs Purdue best bet: Fernando Mendoza Under 2.5 passing TDs (-106)

It has been a Heisman type of year for Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. The transfer from Cal has 2,641 passing yards and 30 touchdowns to only five interceptions. However, this game just does not set up well for him to find the end zone as much through the air.

Despite being a bad pass defense, the Purdue Boilermakers have only allowed 12 total touchdowns through the air through 11 games. Not a single quarterback has thrown for three touchdowns in a single game against them this season. That is despite allowing 29.6 points per game.

Purdue has played Notre Dame, Illinois, Ohio State, and Washington, and allowed 56, 43, 34, and 49 points in those games, respectively. And yet still none of those games featured three or more passing touchdowns from the opponents. Instead, most teams score on them through turnovers and runs.

Mendoza has been awesome this year, but still has five games this season with two or fewer passing touchdowns, including four of the last seven. This game is likely to be similar to the Indiana Hoosiers' 55-10 win over Maryland a few weeks ago, and Mendoza only had one passing touchdown in that game.

Indiana vs Purdue same-game parlay

To add to my best bet, I am going to lean on this being more of a run-heavy game for Indiana and back Roman Hemby to go Over 72.5 rushing yards. Also, the return of Elijah Sarratt should take away several targets from Omar Cooper Jr.

Indiana vs Purdue SGP

  • Fernando Mendoza Under 2.5 passing TDs
  • Roman Hemby Over 72.5 rushing yards
  • Omar Cooper Jr. Under 5.5 receptions

Our deep-ball SGP: Cooper still makes an impact

A non-correlated addition of Cooper Jr. to find the end zone will greatly boost the odds here, and he can easily catch a touchdown while both staying Under his receptions and Under Mendoza passing touchdowns.

Indiana vs Purdue SGP

  • Fernando Mendoza Under 2.5 passing TDs
  • Roman Hemby Over 72.5 rushing yards
  • Omar Cooper Jr. Under 5.5 receptions
  • Omar Cooper Jr. anytime TD

Indiana vs Purdue odds

  • Spread: Indiana -28.5 | Purdue +28.5
  • Moneyline: Indiana -10000 | Purdue +2400
  • Over/Under: Over 54.5 | Under 54.5
