Georgia vs Georgia Tech Odds, Picks, and Predictions: Bulldogs Run Wild on Yellow Jackets

It's tough to fathom any other result than a lopsided Georgia win when the Bulldogs visit the Yellow Jackets on Saturday night. Our betting picks expect a very one-sided affair with the hosts struggling to find the endzone.

The rivalry known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate renews for the 117th time on Saturday night as the 11-0 Georgia Bulldogs head to Atlanta to take on the 6-5 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets with another perfect regular season on the line for the Dawgs.

The Bulldogs dismantled the Tennessee Volunteers last week to win their 18th consecutive SEC game. The Yellow Jackets defeated Syracuse 31-22 last week to guarantee themselves a bowl berth this season. Will the Bulldogs complete another undefeated regular season and cover in the college football odds this evening?

Here are our free college football picks and predictions for Georgia vs. Georgia Tech at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, November 25.

Georgia vs Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Last season, the Georgia Bulldogs allowed an early 7-0 lead to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets before rattling off 37 straight points and winning 37-14. Georgia rushed for 264 yards in that contest spread out between eight different ball carriers. The Dawgs are more of a passing team this season but may go back to relying on that run game in this contest.

The Yellow Jackets rank 128th in the nation in rushing yards allowed at 222.4 per game. The Mississippi Rebels were able to rack up 299 yards on the ground against this Georgia Tech defense back in mid-September in a 48-23 Ole Miss victory. More recently, Clemson rushed for 260 yards against this defense.

There is no reason to believe that Georgia will not be able to replicate that success on the ground. The Bulldogs rank 36th in the country with 178.6 rushing yards per contest. Lead running back Daijun Edwards averages 5.4 yards per carry. Secondary back Kendall Milton averages 6.0 yards per rush. Both players were active in last year’s matchup.

Two top receiving threats for Georgia are questionable for this game and will either sit or see limited time if this game becomes a blowout. Ladd McConkey is dealing with an ankle issue and Rara Thomas has a foot injury. Both will likely need a little extra rest before taking on Alabama in the SEC title game next weekend.

This leads me to believe that Georgia will just try to dominate possession through the ground game. They rank 1st in the country in time of possession, while the Yellow Jackets rank 117th in the same category. The Bulldogs will be able to run at will and dominate possession and in the scoring category.

Because of that possession, my best bet in this game is the team total Under for the Yellow Jackets. Georgia just shut down two very good offenses in Mississippi and Tennessee to 17 points and 10 points, respectively. Georgia Tech has not scored more than 14 points against the Dawgs since the 2018 matchup.

My best bet: Georgia Tech team total Under 16.5 pts (+125 at bet365)

Georgia vs Georgia Tech same-game parlay

Georgia Tech Under 2.5 TDs

Daijun Edwards anytime TD

Jamal Haynes Under 65.5 rush yards

Based on the game script we are expecting with Georgia dominating possession through the ground game, we should have a nice same-game parlay here.

Starting with the Georgia Tech team total Under, we will add a few touchdown scorers for the Bulldogs to build our parlay. The Yellow Jackets have allowed 25 rushing touchdowns this season, so we could see a few through the ground game in this matchup.

Daijun Edwards has 10 rushing touchdowns on the season. Kendall Milton has eight on the ground this year. I would not be surprised at all if both find the endzone here in this game where we will likely see a decent split in workload between the two.

Finally, because of the game script and the Georgia defense, we will add the Under on rushing yards for Jamal Haynes. The Bulldogs only allow 109.9 yards on the ground per game (21st) and it will be hard to get Haynes a lot of carries if they rarely have the ball and are trailing.

Georgia vs Georgia Tech spread and Over/Under analysis

Surprisingly, this is the lowest spread we have seen in this rivalry since 2018. However, most of that is due to Georgia’s inability to easily dispose of lesser opponents this season. They only defeated South Carolina by 10, Auburn by 7, and Vanderbilt by 17. I believe it is still worth taking Georgia against the spread in this game, as they should cover if they reach around 40 points.

This is also the highest total we have seen in this matchup since 2018. That would be because the Yellow Jackets rank 38th in the country in scoring at 21.9 points per game. They also rank 30th in total offense, racking up 435.1 total yards per contest.

However, that offense is just not going to break out big plays against this Georgia defense and they will not be able to have enough possession to reach a point total into the 20’s. Without that, the Under should be a safe play here in this game.
