Georgia vs Alabama Predictions - Early Picks & Odds for SEC Championship

Alabama beat Georgia earlier this season, giving the Bulldogs their only loss on the calendar. While the Crimson Tide are underdogs in the rematch, there's a good reason not to fade them.

The 34th SEC Championship game is a rematch from earlier this season, marking the fifth time in the last 14 years that the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide will meet for the title.

My early Georgia vs. Alabama predictions and college football picks expect the Crimson Tide to continue their domination of this series on Saturday, December 6.

Early Georgia vs Alabama spread pick: Alabama +2.5

The Alabama Crimson Tide won 24-21 in late September, giving the Georgia Bulldogs what would be their only loss of the season. Usually, when a team wins the regular-season matchup in a close game, I like to take the opposite side in the rematch, but not here. This series is different.

While most of the matchups between these teams featured Nick Saban at Alabama's helm, Kalen DeBoer has not changed anything when it comes to owning Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. He won this game 41-34 last year, at home, also as an underdog.

In fact, Bama has been an underdog in six of their 10 matchups dating back to 2012, and they have won five of those. The College Football Playoff Championship Game in January of 2022 was Smart’s lone victory over the Tide during his tenure. Bama has won all five matchups in the SEC Championship game.

Georgia’s defense is still good, but it's nothing like it used to be, and Alabama will move the ball and find the end zone with all its weapons. The offense has also been very inconsistent and was held to 16 points last week against Georgia Tech. I will take Bama anytime these two teams match up as the underdog.

Early Georgia vs Alabama total pick: Under 47.5

The Tide rank 11th in the country, allowing only 16.5 points per game. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs rank 12th, allowing only 16.7 points per contest.

Georgia has hit the game total Under in nine of its last 14 games, while Alabama has done so in 10 of its last 14. The Under has also hit in three of the last four matchups between these two programs.

There were 45 points scored in their previous matchup this season, and almost all of them came in the second quarter (31) alone, and no points at all in the fourth. That is despite there being only one turnover in the game.

We could see a scoring explosion in a quarter again, since these teams tend to always respond to their opponents' style. However, even if that happens, as we saw in the last matchup, this Under can still hit.
