Alabama vs Florida State Same-Game Parlay for College Football Week 1

With offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb reuniting with Kalen DeBoer, the Crimson Tide offense is set to be a well-oiled machine in Tallahassee.

A day may come with a revisionist history of the 2024 season, wondering how good the Alabama Crimson Tide would have been if Ryan Grubb had stuck around as offensive coordinator instead of trying his hand with the Seattle Seahawks for a season.

That day will not come just because the Tide runs up the score on the Florida State Seminoles, but that will be the first sign of Grubb’s impact.

My Alabama vs. Florida State predictions have little faith in the Seminoles.

Our best Alabama vs Florida State SGP for Week 1

Jalen Milroe was a delightful college quarterback for Alabama. Some version of a highlight seemed to accompany every snap.

Ty Simpson will provide an entirely different experience. More of a traditional passer, Simpson should trust Grubbs’s play designs and pick apart Florida State’s offense.

With sophomore receiver Ryan Williams, Simpson does not even need to be particularly precise. Williams can turn anything near him into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, one of the best offensive lines in the country should have little trouble paving a path for sophomore running back Richard Young.

He may not be as proven as Jam Miller, but in Miller’s absence, Young’s big-play ability could take the place of Milroe’s chaos. Every handoff to Young has touchdown potential.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
