The UConn Huskies have been vulnerable in Big East play. Despite a 10-0 Big East record, the Huskies are 3-7 ATS and have failed to cover the last seven games.
They squeaked by in two against last-place Providence, winning in overtime on the road and by six at home in their last game. They also trailed Villanova in overtime before rallying and escaping by two at Georgetown.
While the Huskies are 5-1 against Quad I foes—Saturday's game will be their seventh such contest—four of the five wins came by five points or less.
Coach Dan Hurley said after the Providence rematch, where UConn led by one with less than seven minutes to play, that the team needed to "get a lot meaner" and "play with more violence".
Many coaches talk about the emotional energy flows of a season. Usually, by this point in the year, angry coach talk isn't enough to snap a team out of a malaise. It often takes an upset loss to refocus a team.
The Creighton Bluejays, however, aren't the most compelling candidate to spring that upset. The Bluejays have gone 4-4 in the last eight games, alternating wins and losses. They've covered in just two of them, however, and have lost five straight ATS.
UConn hopes to have Braylon Mullins back. The team's third-leading scorer and three-point shooter missed the Providence game with a concussion.
The Huskies have made just 8 of 43 from three in the last two road games, so they could use him. Of course, Creighton has allowed the last two teams to come there to hit 19 of 40 from three.
