Defending national champion Florida will host No. 18 Georgia in an important early-season SEC showdown. The Gators dropped their SEC opener at Missouri and find themselves outside the Top 25.

Georgia is 13-1 and riding a seven-game win streak, but are the Dawgs for real? My Georgia vs. Florida predictions and college basketball picks think so.

Georgia vs Florida prediction

Georgia vs Florida best bet: Georgia moneyline (+350)

The Georgia Bulldogs haven't played the toughest schedule, but it’s not like the 13-1 mark is an illusion built on a string of cupcakes. They have three Quad II wins, and the lone loss for the Dawgs came against Clemson in overtime in what was a Quad I game.

The Florida Gators have played a much more challenging slate, but don’t have much to show for it. Florida has gone 1-4 in Quad I games. FSU, Miami, and Providence are their three Quad II wins, all coming on Black Friday or earlier. The Gators have gone 4-3 since and are 4-10 ATS on the year.

Georgia is the top-scoring team in the nation, and the offense has held up against elite foes. The Dawgs scored 100+ against Auburn and FSU and topped 90 against Georgia Tech and Clemson. The Dawgs are dominant inside on both ends of the court.

Georgia is No. 2 in the nation in 2-point shooting percentage and No. 15 in 2-point defense. This team gets to the line and controls the offensive boards. That promises a physical battle with the Gators, who are also one of the nation’s Top-5 rebounding teams on both ends.

Despite the marquee interior battle, Georgia has an edge on the perimeter. The Bulldogs are solid, not great, from beyond the arc, but Florida hits just 28% from outside and has a shaky perimeter defense. That may be the difference after the teams battle to a near stalemate in the paint.

Georgia vs Florida same-game parlay

Make no mistake: This game will be played at a frantic pace. Georgia is No. 2 in the country in tempo, while Florida is No. 80. A 90-80 game would be a fast-paced outcome well within the realm of possibility, and it would be Under by more than five points. Florida has gone Over just four times in the last 10 games, and it hasn’t faced a total as high as 170 over that span.

The odds on Boogie Fland don’t make a lot of sense. He's averaging just 11 points per game and hasn’t topped 12 in a game since Dec. 2. He’s scored in single digits three times in his last six. He’s also hit just two of his last 20 threes. He’ll find his groove again, but that's a tough ask against Georgia’s stiff defense.

Our beyond the arc SGP: Singing the Blues

Blue Cain is averaging 15.6 on the season, and he steps up against the top teams. Against the five Quad I and II teams on Georgia’s schedule so far, he’s averaged 18.2 points per game. If the perimeter is indeed the difference in the game, there’s a good chance he'll be the one hitting big shots.
