Villanova and Georgetown meet in an interesting Big East affair.
The Hoyas have been on an abysmal run, and you have to wonder if their season is in danger of completely going off the rails.
They enter this matchup riding a five-game losing streak, though it’s worth noting that three of those defeats were decided by a combined nine points. Now we’ll see if they can provide a much-improved Villanova squad with a stiff challenge.

Georgetown vs Villanova best bet: Villanova -8.5 (-110)
My best bet in this matchup are the Villanova Wildcats -8.5. I projected a spread of -10.5, so I see decent value, especially when you factor in the matchup edges Villanova has.
Villanova is simply the more complete team on both ends. Offensively, their profile is built on efficiency through big cut-and-roll and pick-and-pop actions, plus the kind of rebound-and-scramble production that turns “good” possessions into great ones.
It’s particularly troubling that the Georgetown Hoyas allow nearly a point per possession on significant cut-and-roll actions while also being a below-average rebounding team.
Duke Brennan, who is scoring 1.35 points per possession on big cuts and rolls, can have a massive game by exploiting those half-court breakdowns while also being the best offensive rebounder on the floor and generating second chances.
If Georgetown can’t consistently finish possessions with a clean rebound, Villanova will separate without needing to shoot lights out.
On the other end, Villanova’s defense should do a strong job of taking away Georgetown’s main actions. Even though Georgetown doesn’t run it at an elite level, they do get to mid-range at a reasonably high frequency, and Villanova has been excellent at bottling that up, allowing just 0.73 points per possession on mid-range actions this season.
That’s a low-upside scoring path against a disciplined defense, and it becomes even tougher when the game slows into half-court reps.
Tempo should be at a comfortable pace for both teams, which is another quiet plus for the favorite: Villanova can execute in structure, control runs, and keep Georgetown from turning this into a scramble-heavy game on their terms.
I’ll take a team like Villanova with this many edges pretty much every time. This is playable to my projected number of -10.5.

Georgetown vs Villanova same-game parlay
I expect this to be a Duke Brennan game for the very reasons highlighted in my best bet and I’m consequently taking him to exceed both his rebound total plus points total in my same-game parlay.
As long as he avoids foul trouble, Brennan has a clear cut path to scoring regularly and generating second chances opportunities throughout this game.

I see about a point of value on this total so I’m adding the Over to my longshot.
The pace won’t be too terrible and we’ve already mentioned the Villanova offensive advantages. What we’ve failed to mention is although they’ll struggle to generate points from time-to-time, the Hoyas will find some scoring chances at the rim.
