Suns vs Bulls Picks and Predictions: Exhausted Bulls No Match for Phoenix

The Chicago Bulls are ripe for the picking after an exhausting loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. On most nights, the Phoenix Suns wouldn't even need that added advantage. However, we think it seals the deal in our NBA betting picks.

The Phoenix Suns had their 11-game winning streak snapped by the Atlanta Hawks on February 3, but they bounced back with a 15-point road win over the Washington Wizards two days later. The Suns will now look to earn back-to-back wins when they face the Chicago Bulls on Monday.

Will Phoenix comfortably beat a Chicago team that used a lot of energy in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers just yesterday? You’ll want to keep reading our NBA betting picks and predictions to find out.

Spread analysis

The Suns were unable to extend their winning streak to 12 games last week as they lost to the Hawks in Atlanta. Phoenix can’t be expected to go out there and win every night, but the team quickly bounced back from that loss. With that in mind, Monty Williams’ group will be looking to make a statement with a win over one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, and Chicago is going to be a bit tired after battling it out with Philadelphia yesterday.

DeMar DeRozan should be especially exhausted after Sunday's loss, as he had 45 points in 41 minutes of action, and he’ll now have a matchup with Mikal Bridges to deal with. That’s not going to be great for the Chicago star as Bridges is one of the best overall defenders in basketball. He has a massive wingspan and is going to contest nearly everything DeRozan throws up in the mid-range area.

Also, Nikola Vucevic could have a tough matchup, too. Deandre Ayton has the size, athleticism, and overall defensive IQ to give Vucevic some trouble. The Suns can also send some help in Vucevic’s direction as the Bulls are still missing Lonzo Ball, who is one of the best high-volume three-point shooters in the league. With DeRozan already being a non-shooter from deep, Chicago isn’t exactly great at spacing the floor.

Guards Chris Paul and Devin Booker should be able to torch this Bulls defense. With Ball and Caruso out, Chicago is missing two of the best perimeter defenders in the game. That will end up being a disaster against the best offensive backcourt in the NBA.

Prediction: Suns -7.5 (-110)

Over/Under analysis

The Suns should have no trouble efficiently shredding a Bulls defense missing some of its best perimeter defenders, as Phoenix is third in the league in offensive rating and gets to face a Chicago defense that is 25th in defensive rating over the last 10 games. The only issue is that Chicago probably won’t be able to do the same against a rested Phoenix team loaded with defensive stoppers. This game could also be pretty lopsided, which would be a poor development for Over bettors.

The Under is also 32-18 when Phoenix is on the road in games with a total between 220 and 229.5 over the last three seasons. On top of that, the Under is 9-1 when the Suns have played teams with winning records this year. The average number of points scored in that second situation is 210.4 points per game, which is well under tonight's total.

Prediction: Under 227.5 (-110)

Best bet

The Suns are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against teams with winning records. Phoenix is also 18-6 ATS in road games when playing against teams with winning percentages between 60% and 70% over the last three seasons. If that’s not enough, the Suns are also 8-0 ATS when coming off back-to-back games against Eastern Conference opponents, and the Suns have won those games by an average margin of 14.9 points.

This is just a bad situation for a shorthanded Bulls squad playing on the second night of a back-to-back. It’s hard to ask this group to go out there and compete at a high level once again, especially against a team that is arguably the best in basketball.

Pick: Suns -7.5 (-110)
