NBA Sharp Money and Line Movement Report

By Patrick Everson

Los Angeles hit the TwinSpires odds board as a 9-point favorite and spent much of the day bouncing between -9.5 and -10. As of 6 p.m. ET, the Clippers are -10, but the Raptors are grabbing 62 percent of spread bets and 67 percent of spread cash. "The Raptors are seeing public support, after that win against the Lakers as a 10-point 'dog and (with) the Clippers on a three-game losing streak. We'll need the Clippers to cover," TwinSpires trading analyst Zachary Lucas said. The total dipped to 218.5 from a 221 opener, with 58 percent of bets on the Over and 54 percent of money on the Under.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

The Raptors absolutely stunned the Lakers on Sunday, earning a 121-114 win as 10.5-point road underdogs. Kyle Lowry went wild for Toronto in that game, pouring in 37 points and hitting clutch shot after clutch shot. He legitimately didn’t give Los Angeles a chance to come back in the second half, as he was hitting step-back jumpers every single time the Lakers attempted to cut into the lead.

Will the Raptors come away with yet another massive upset on the road? Probably not. But the good thing is that they don’t have to do that in order to help you win some money.

While Toronto was able to win that game on Sunday, the team did so without both Fred VanVleet and O.G. Anunoby. The two of them should be back in the lineup for the Raptors tonight, and that gives them two more two-way contributors to help go to battle with the Clippers. VanVleet and Lowry should give Ty Lue’s team a lot of problems in this game. Los Angeles is loaded with wings and bigs, but the team doesn’t have that type of firepower in the backcourt.

Anunoby and Pascal Siakam also make up a very nice wing duo, and the two of them should be able to make Kawhi Leonard and Paul George work in this game. The only question mark coming into this one is whether or not the Clippers will dominate inside. Ivica Zubac is definitely the best center that will be active in this game, so Los Angeles will go through him. Khem Birch, however, has given Toronto some nice minutes this season, so he should be able to hold his own.

Overall, the Raptors seem like a good bet to hang around in this one, even if the Clippers do ultimately end up winning.

PREDICTION: Raptors +9 (-110)

Over/Under pick

The Under has hit in five straight for the Clippers and eight of the last nine.

The odd thing is that Los Angeles hasn’t exactly been great defensively over the course of that span, as the team is just 13th in the league in defensive rating in that stretch. With that said, it wouldn’t be surprising if things turn a bit for the Clippers, as they are likely due for a couple of shootouts in the coming nights.

Don’t be surprised if this one ends up being a pretty high-scoring game, especially with the Raptors coming off a 121-point performance against the Lakers.

PREDICTION: Over 220.5 (-110)

Player prop pick

The Raptors don’t have much depth at the center position right now, and Birch is a little undersized to be checking somebody as big as Zubac. Look for Los Angeles’ big man to get plenty of opportunities as a roll man, and don’t be surprised if he has a couple of putbacks at the rim.

It has flown a bit under the radar to this point, but Zubac has been one of the Clippers’ best players this season. He should be able to produce in this spot.

PREDICTION: Ivica Zubac Over 8.5 points (-124)
