We have two Game 6s on the NBA Playoffs schedule tonight as the Knicks and Pistons continue their way with NY looking to close things out, while the Nuggets will be hoping to do the same on the road against the Clippers.
Check out my favorite NBA picks for Thursday, May 1, and my three-leg parlay for the action.
Today's best NBA Playoff parlay: May 1
Pick #1: Knicks moneyline
The New York Knicks had the chance to eliminate the Detroit Pistons at home on Tuesday evening, but they failed to do so, losing yet another game at Madison Square Garden. Now, they head on the road to Motown for a difficult Game 6 with a 3-2 series lead.
Jalen Brunson had a horrible Game 5, scoring just 16 points on 4-for-16 shooting from the field. Keep in mind, he scored 30+ in every other game in this first-round matchup. I do expect him to bounce back tonight and set the tone for New York, who should be able to clinch the series. They’re sitting as a +100 road underdog on the moneyline, which offers value. It could be a close one, but the Knicks will avoid Game 7 back in the Big Apple.
Pick #2: Nuggets +6.5
The Denver Nuggets head into Game 6 as a 6.5-poin underdog on the spread, which does make a little bit of sense considering they lost by over 30 points on the road to the Los Angeles Clippers last week before a 101-99 victory at the Intuit Dome just days later thanks to a buzzer beater Aaron Gordon dunk.
Aside from the blowout Game 3 and Game 5, this series has been close. Games 1, 2, and 4 were all decided by three points or fewer. Denver was 10-8 as an ATS road underdog during the regular season, and considering how the NBA odds look, this pick is a no-brainer. Whether they win or it’s a slim defeat, expect some thrilling basketball this evening.
Pick #3: Knicks-Pistons Under 213.5
The total for Game 6 between the Knicks and Pistons sits at just 213.5. That’s because the last two contests have been low-scoring, both cashing the Under. New York ran out with a 94-93 victory in Game 4 before Detroit’s 106-103 win in Game 5.
Three of the last four in the series have cashed the Under in total. Of course, 213.5 is a little bit risky for a potential closeout game. However, given the recent trends, it could be a defensive-minded, gritty Game 6.
