Heat vs Clippers best bet: Jaime Jaquez Jr. Over 13.5 points (-105)
Jaime Jaquez Jr. finished with the second-highest-scoring game of his career with 31 points on Sunday, leading all scorers in a loss to the Lakers. The potential return of Norman Powell has driven Jaquez Jr.’s scoring line down, and I’m happy to take that value.
Jaquez Jr. is averaging a career-best 18.7 points per game this season, and he’s scored at least 14 in four of six matchups. He finished with exactly 13 points in one more game.
Powell’s absence has allowed Jaquez Jr. to score 28 and 31 points, but the latter found success with Powell in the lineup, too. Over the first three games of the season, Jaquez Jr. posted point totals of 13, 17, and 17 alongside Norm.
Jaquez Jr. should be fired up from last night’s eruption, and the UCLA product is playing in comfortable surroundings. I went for his combo line last night, and I’m going back to the well on Monday.
Heat vs Clippers same-game parlay
The Los Angeles Clippers are just 1-4 ATS this season compared to a 4-2 mark for the Miami Heat. It’s tough to trust a team that got thrashed by the Utah Jazz in the opener and needed a Kawhi Leonard game-winner to get past the winless New Orleans Pelicans.
Miami is one of the highest-scoring teams in the Association, and I’ll bet on a high-scoring game at Intuit Dome. The Clippers are 3-2 to the Over, and the Heat are 4-2 to the Over.
