Riding a three-game win streak, the New York Yankees head to LoanDepot Park looking to gain ground in the AL East against the Miami Marlins.

With Aaron Judge still sidelined, Cody Bellinger has been stepping up — and in my Yankees vs. Marlins predictions and MLB picks for Friday, August 1, I’m betting on him to make an impact once again.

My Yankees vs Marlins best bet: Cody Bellinger Over 1.5 total bases (-115 at bet365)

The New York Yankees rolled to a third straight win against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday as Cody Bellinger made his mark once again.

The outfielder recorded an RBI single in the first inning to extend his hit streak to five games as he continues to step up in the absence of the injured Aaron Judge.

Since Judge last played on July 25, Bellinger leads the Yankees in extra-base hits (four) and co-leads the team with six RBI. In fact, Bellinger has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine outings and 2+ total bases in five of those games.

Janson Junk has been solid for the Miami Marlins this season with a 3.28 ERA over 12 starts, but the right-hander has been hit hard by left-handed batters. Lefties are batting .305 with a .438 slugging percentage and a .356 BABIP, while righties own a .230/.295/.277 split vs. Junk.

That’s good news for the left-hitting Bellinger, who will be relied upon to have another good night at the plate.

Yankees vs Marlins same-game parlay (SGP)

Cody Bellinger Over 1.5 total bases

Xavier Edwards 1+ hits

Under 8.5

Xavier Edwards finished the month of July with a .324 average and collected at least one hit in 21 of 25 games. The Marlins shortstop leads his team with 16 hits over the last 15 days and should be a lock to notch another base hit tonight.

This one is shaping up to be a pitchers’ duel, though, as Carlos Rodon and Junk go head-to-head. The Marlins rank 20th in the majors in runs per game (4.23) while the Yankees’ offense will likely take a bit of a hit without Judge.
