A marquee matchup kicks off tonight as the red-hot New York Yankees travel to L.A. to take on the powerhouse Dodgers in the opener of a three-game weekend showdown.

The Yankees have been on a tear, winning nine of their last ten, including five straight. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are coming off a solid series win over the Guardians.

Given New York’s recent trend of low-scoring affairs, my Yankees vs. Dodgers predictions lean toward another tight, Under-friendly game.

Find out more in my free MLB picks for Friday, May 30.

Yankees vs Dodgers prediction

My Yankees vs Dodgers best bet: Under 9 (-110 at bet365)

The New York Yankees have been prolific at run prevention, leading the Majors with a 2.67 ERA as a staff across the last 30 days.

Naturally, that has led to plenty of games going Under the total. They’ve now done so in eight of their last nine games to move to 22-31 O/U overall this season.

Max Fried and his 1.29 ERA take the mound on Friday, so the Yankees have to feel good about their odds of limiting the Dodgers’ offensive output in the series opener.

The tall lefty hasn’t allowed any more than two earned runs in any start and has allowed one or fewer earned runs in eight of his last 10 outings. He ranks 12th among qualified starters in Stuff+ (107).

The Los Angeles Dodgers are known for their fearsome offense, but they have just a 7-10 record against left-handed starters.

Tony Gonsolin gets the call for Dave Roberts’ squad and will face a New York lineup that his been fine but not otherworldly against RHP across the last 15 days (102 wRC+ and .313 wOBA).

Both bullpens will be at maximum strength after an off day on Thursday. Roberts will have a quick hook with Gonsolin if he struggles, while Fried has an effective bullpen behind him (3.31 FIP since May 1).

New York is 3-5 O/U in Fried’s last five starts, while L.A. is 1-3 O/U in Gonsolin’s last four.

Yankees vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)

Yankees moneyline

Jasson Dominguez 2+ total bases

Under 9

The Yankees have the better bullpen and the better starting pitcher, so I’m riding with the road team. They’re carrying a five-game winning streak, all of which occurred on the road.

Gonsolin has severe splits through five starts, walking as many left-handers as he is striking them out (13.1%) while allowing them to hit .294/.400/.471.

One New York bat ready to capitalize is Jasson Dominguez. The 22-year-old has a 142 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers and destroys four-seamers (170 wRC+) and curves (165 wRC+), which Gonsolin usually relies on against lefties.
