The Philadelphia Phillies return home to start a three-game set against the Detroit Tigers tonight.

With catcher J.T. Realmuto swinging a hot bat, my Tigers vs. Phillies predictions are targeting the veteran catcher to shine at Citizens Bank Park.

Tigers vs Phillies prediction

My Tigers vs Phillies best bet: J.T. Realmuto 2+ hits + runs + RBI (-105 at DraftKings)

J.T. Realmuto may no longer be the best catcher in baseball, but he’s been heating up over the past few months.

His batting average sat at .222 through May 31, with the Philadelphia Phillies catcher primarily batting in the bottom-third of the lineup. However, Realmuto's raised his average to .270 entering tonight, thanks to a 52-for-161 (.323 AVG) stretch over his last 41 games.

Realmuto had an especially strong month of July, batting .354 (28 for 79) with nine runs scored and 10 RBI in 19 games. He had at least 2 HRR in 13 of those contests.

Despite batting right-handed, Realmuto has a much better average vs. RHP (.310) than vs. LHP (.172) this season, so he's in a good position to produce against Jack Flaherty and the Detroit Tigers. Realmuto has also risen up the lineup over the past few weeks, batting either cleanup or fifth behind the Phillies’ top bats.

Tigers vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)

J.T. Realmuto 2+ hits + runs + RBI

Phillies moneyline

Spencer Torkelson 2+ hits + runs + RBI

The Phillies (61-47) have a slightly worse record than the Tigers (64-46) overall, but they’ve flexed their muscles at home to the tune of a 33-19 record, while Detroit is 28-25 on the road. The Phils are also 9-6 in Ranger Suarez’s 15 starts, with the Tigers just 7-14 when Flaherty pitches.

Spencer Torkelson thrives against left-handed pitching, batting .280 with an OPS of 1.001. He has 2+ HRR in seven of his last nine games, so this is a good contrarian leg to close out the parlay.
