The Tampa Bay Rays look to avoid a series sweep when they meet the Seattle Mariners this afternoon at T-Mobile Park.
Seattle has won four of its last five over Tampa Bay, and my Rays vs. Mariners predictions are backing Bryan Woo and the M’s to win today’s game by a comfortable margin.
Read on for my MLB picks for Sunday, August 10.
Rays vs Mariners prediction
Rays vs Mariners best bet: Mariners -1.5 (+118)
Tampa Bay Rays starter Adrian Houser and his 4.24 xERA gets the nod after a rough outing against the Angels, where he surrendered 11 hits and five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.
Houser could struggle early against a Seattle Mariners lineup that’s smashed three homers and boasts an .851 OPS across 56 at-bats against the right-hander.
Tampa Bay loves to attack fastballs, but they’ll face Mariners starter Bryan Woo, a hard-throwing righty with sharp off-speed pitches and a 3.20 xERA.
Woo has pitched six or more innings in 22 straight starts, and his sweeper should generate plenty of whiffs. Woo can hold the Rays’ bats at bay, and he’ll hand the ball over to baseball’s top bullpen over the last 14 days (2.11 xERA).
Seattle has beaten Tampa Bay in four of their last five and is a good bet to win by a comfortable margin today.
Caesars QuickPick: Our Rays vs Mariners same-game parlay (SGP)
Eugenio Suarez has gone hitless in four straight games. The encouraging sign is he’s 6-for-19 with a couple of home runs and a double against Houser.
Woo has struck out at least six in eight of his last 10. He meets a Rays lineup with a 27% strikeout rate across the previous two weeks.
