The Texas Rangers and New York Yankees will wrap up a three-game series this afternoon at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Carlos Rodon has had lots of success against this Texas lineup, and I’ll explain why that should continue today in my Rangers vs. Yankees predictions.

Read on with my MLB picks for Thursday, May 22.

Rangers vs Yankees prediction

My Rangers vs Yankees best bet: Carlos Rodon Under 1.5 earned runs (+127 at bet365)

With Gerrit Cole sidelined due to injury, others have needed to step up in the Yankees rotation. Carlos Rodon has been one of those starters to do so.

The left-hander is 5-3 with a 3.17 ERA in 10 appearances, striking out 72 in 59 2/3 innings of work while walking only 24.

Rodon is thriving in May. Across three starts this month, he’s only given up five earned runs while compiling a 2.55 ERA. The southpaw has surrendered Under 1.5 earned in four of his last six outings and two of his last three.

The veteran held the crosstown New York Mets to one earned runs last weekend and also tossed 6 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball against the San Diego Padres earlier in the month.

Rodon has held this Rangers lineup to a .197 average, and it’s no secret Texas is struggling offensively. I expect Rodon to carve them up this afternoon in the rubber match.

Rangers vs Yankees same-game parlay (SGP)

Carlos Rodon Under 1.5 earned runs

Adolis Garcia Over 0.5 hits

Aaron Judge Over 0.5 hits

Adolis Garcia isn’t exactly flourishing offensively, hitting just .218 with six homers so far. However, he’s cashed the Over in hits in two of his last three games, and Garcia has done well against Rodon in the past.

While it’s only six at-bats, Garcia has two hits versus the lefty. I do think Rodon is going to dominate today, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Garcia found some green space at least once with New York’s hard-throwing lefty on the hill.

Taking Aaron Judge to record one hit feels so obvious. After all, he leads the majors in numerous categories.

The slugger is batting .402 with 16 home runs, 13 doubles, and 44 RBI. He’s cashed the Over in hits in three straight games and even had a homer in the series opener.

The Rangers hand Nathan Eovaldi the ball today, who has an ERA well below 2.00. But, Judge has made his life a nightmare in the past.

The reigning AL MVP is batting .368 lifetime against Eovaldi (14-for-38). Expect him to keep that success up in the finale here.
