There’s afternoon baseball on the docket, and my top MLB player props have you covered right through the final game on Wednesday, August 13.

I'm looking at starting pitchers Merrill Kelly and Joe Kelly, and Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe in the nightcap.

Best MLB player props today

  • Rangers Kelly Under 5.5 strikeouts (-105)
  • Twins Ryan Under 6.5 strikeouts (+100)
  • Rays Lowe Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-135)

Our 3 best MLB player props for Wednesday, August 13

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Merrill Kelly Under 5.5 strikeouts (-105 at DraftKings)

Texas Rangers righty Merrill Kelly has fanned five or fewer in five of his past seven starts while posting a pedestrian 6.9 K/9 and 18.9 K/9. He’s held opposing batters to an unsustainably low .209 BABIP during the stretch, and his 4.58 xFIP suggests his 3.10 ERA over that run is a bit of a mirage.

Kelly will also face his former team, and the Arizona Diamondbacks have been tough on righties all season with a league-high .340 wOBA (.333 mark since the All-Star break) and middling 21.6 K%.

Joe Ryan Under 6.5 strikeouts (+100 at BetMGM)

There’s smoke and mirrors in Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan’s strikeout numbers because he’s punched out five or fewer in five of his past seven starts, with an outlier 11-strikeout game boosting him to a 9.22 K/9 and 26.3 K% during the stretch.

He’ll also face a tough New York Yankee lineup at homer-happy Yankee Stadium.

The Bronx Bombers rank fourth in wOBA and second in ISO against righties, and they have screaming statistical correction ahead of their 29th-ranked .217 BABIP in August.

Brandon Lowe Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-135 at BetMGM)

This is a cushy matchup for Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe

Athletics starter J.T. Ginn has allowed a .419 wOBA to left-handed hitters and an overall 47.6% hard-hit rate.

Returning to Lowe, he’s scorching along a 9-for-26 stretch at the dish with four runs and six RBI, and he sports a high-end .385 wOBA, .258 ISO, and .906 OPS against righties for the season.
