Best MLB player props today
Our 3 best Wild Card MLB player props for Thursday, October 2
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Jack Flaherty Over 1.5 earned runs allowed
The Detroit Tigers hand Jack Flaherty the baseball today as they look to eliminate the Cleveland Guardians. This is definitely a lineup the right-hander is familiar with – he’s faced them three times this season, compiling a 3.94 ERA.
In fact, Flaherty’s final regular-season start was against Cleveland, where he allowed three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work. He’s given up Over 1.5 earned runs in two of his last four appearances, and unfortunately, Flaherty’s ERA has been worse on the road.
When pitching outside Comerica Park, the veteran owns a 5.27 ERA. I’m not going to say he’ll get hit around today, but 1.5 earned runs is far too low a total for me. Hammer the Over.

Prop #2: Jameson Taillon Over 3.5 hits allowed
Craig Counsell will put his trust in Jameson Taillon tonight to keep the Chicago Cubs’ playoff journey alive.
The righty has been a consistent arm all season long, posting an 11-7 record and 3.68 ERA. But Taillon has given up Over 3.5 hits twice in his previous four appearances, and the San Diego Padres’ lineup has enjoyed itself at times against him.
They’re hitting .273 across 110 at-bats versus the right-hander, including three home runs. He’s allowed 66 hits in 70 2/3 innings of work on the road in 2025 as well. He’s definitely been more hittable away from Wrigley Field.
I expect Taillon to battle, it just won’t be a flawless outing. He may have to pitch out of trouble at times.

Prop #3: Aaron Judge Over 1.5 total bases
Aaron Judge has been criticized for not performing in the heat of the postseason. While he’s yet to go deep through two games against the Boston Red Sox, the slugger is certainly doing his part. He’s 4-for-8, finishing 2-for-4 in both Game 1 and Game 2.
The reigning AL MVP has never faced Red Sox starter Connelly Early, but that isn’t a concern when he’s swinging it this well. He also hit Over 1.5 total bases in four of his final five regular-season games, so he’s seeing the ball very well at the moment.
The Yanks will need Judge to step up to keep this one competitive, and I do believe the captain of the Bronx Bombers will do so, no matter who is on the mound.
