The Miami Marlins return home from a nine-game road trip to host the Philadelphia Phillies for a four-game set. The Phillies took five of six on their recent homestand to get back on track following a cold stretch.

My Phillies vs. Marlins prediction expects Philadelphia to keep things rolling in my favorite MLB picks for Monday, June 16.

My Phillies vs Marlins best bet: Phillies moneyline (-115 at Caesars)

Both of these teams have been playing well lately, but a closer look at their overall records reveals a different story. The Philadelphia Phillies are 42-29 while the Miami Marlins sit in the basement of the NL East at 28-41, but we're getting nearly a pick'em on Monday night?

Sure, Sandy Alcantara has looked more like himself in his last two starts, with two earned runs in 12 innings, but that was against the Rockies and Pirates. Even without Bryce Harper, this Phillies lineup is a step above those two. The Phillies lit up Alcantara for six runs on four hits in two innings back on April 18, and the former Cy Young winner is still 3-7 with a 7.14 ERA and 1.49 WHIP on the season.

Phillies prospect Mick Abel will be making his fourth major league start on Monday night. He allowed one run in 11 1/3 innings across his first two starts before the Cubs tagged him for three solo home runs in four innings last time out.

Philadelphia is simply the better team, and the pitching matchup doesn’t favor the Marlins enough for this line. Take the Phillies as slight favorites on the road.

Phillies moneyline

Under 8.5

J.T. Realmuto 1+ hits

The Phillies exploded for 11 runs on Sunday, but that hasn't been the norm for this Philadelphia offense. The Phils were held to four runs or fewer in eight of their previous 10 games, and the young righthander should be able to limit the Marlins as well.

J.T. Realmuto has found immense success against Alcantara in his career. He is 11-for-36 with two home runs and a double against the righthander. He’s also had a hit in five of his last six games and eight of his last 10.
