Orioles vs Red Sox Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight's MLB Game 2

The Baltimore Orioles' pitching has been a mess this season. With either Charlie Morton or a bullpen game lined up for Friday night's doubleheader, Rohit Ponnaiya believes the Red Sox can produce plenty of runs.

The Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox face off at Fenway Park on Friday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. This will be the second game of a doubleheader due to the series opener being postponed last night.

Baltimore has struggled this season due to terrible pitching, and my Orioles vs. Red Sox predictions are betting on that staff to get roughed up again.

Here are my best free MLB picks for this AL East clash on May 23.

Orioles vs Red Sox prediction — Game 2

My Orioles vs Red Sox best bet: Red Sox team total Over 4.5 (-132 at FanDuel)

The Baltimore Orioles have yet to officially confirm a starter for tonight, but it's expected to be Charlie Morton or Trevor Rogers. Morton has been recalled to the rotation after a solid appearance out of the bullpen last Saturday.

The 41-year-old is a shell of his former self and has gone 0-7 with a 7.68 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP. He's in the bottom 20th percentile in expected ERA (5.17), expected batting average (.274), and hard-hit rate.

Rogers was awful last year, pitching to a 4.92 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP in 141 innings with the Marlins and Orioles. He's somehow been even worse in the minors this year, logging an 8.10 ERA in four starts at Triple-A Norfolk.

Regardless of who starts between Morton and Rogers, the Orioles' pitching won't be much better when they come out. Baltimore's relievers are 25th in the majors in ERA (4.88) and 26th in WHIP (1.49).

The Boston Red Sox lead the majors in hard-hit rate, while ranking second in exit velocity and third in barrel rate. They are seventh in the majors in OPS (.743) and tend to hit even better at home.

Orioles vs Red Sox same-game parlay (SGP)

Red Sox team total Over 4.5

Jarren Duran 1+ hits

Cedric Mullins 2+ total bases

Jarren Duran has picked up a hit in seven of his last eight games. He'll have the platoon advantage against Morton and has gone 3-9 at the dish against him in his career.

Boston will have Lucas Giolito and his 7.08 ERA on the hill tonight. He's in the bottom 15th percentile in xERA (5.31) and xBA (.285). Cedric Mullins leads Baltimore with 78 total bases and has crushed Giolito in his career, going 8-13 with four extra-base hits.
