The New York Mets are in the thick of the wild-card race, and they'll head to Wrigley Field to take on the Chicago Cubs tonight.
A three-game set is on deck, and my Mets vs. Cubs predictions are calling for New York star Juan Soto to leave his mark in the series opener.

Mets vs Cubs prediction
Mets vs Cubs best bet: Juan Soto Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-110)
Juan Soto has cashed in against right-handed pitchers with an elite .417 wOBA, .285 ISO, and .990 OPS across the past three seasons, and the New York Mets superstar boasts even better .445, .332, and 1.073 marks since the All-Star break.
Those are matchup-proof numbers, and Chicago Cubs starter Cade Horton is also eyeing a splash of statistical correction on the mound, with the rookie righty sporting a 3.97 xFIP with an unsustainable .195 BABIP and 92.8% strand rate during the scorching 11-start stretch.
Returning to Soto, he’s also cashed the Over in this market in eight of his past 11 games.
Mets vs Cubs same-game parlay (SGP)
While both Cade Horton and Mets lefty David Peterson have been throwing well and should keep this a low-scoring game, Peterson has hit a rough patch, surrendering 21 runs over just 17 1/3 innings across his last four starts. New York has also dropped 11 of its past 15 games.
Additionally, the Mets have also been a little swing-and-miss happy with the ninth-highest strikeout percentage this month, and Horton has shown an uptick in punchouts during the highlighted heater.
The Cubs right-hander is up to a respectable 8.02 K/9 and 23.7 K%, and Horton has fanned 5+ batters in five of his past eight starts.
