Junior Caminero has been a force at home all season long. Even against an established star in Luis Castillo, my Mariners vs. Rays predictions see Caminero having another productive outing at the plate.

Let’s break it all down with my September 1 MLB picks.

Mariners vs Rays prediction

Mariners vs Rays best bet: Junior Caminero Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-141)

Junior Caminero is in the middle of a great season for the Tampa Bay Rays. He has hit 39 homers, 22 doubles, and served as a consistent source of power for the team.

He has done his best work at home, benefiting from the Rays’ temporary home base that happens to be a lot more hitter friendly than the Trop.

Caminero has averaged 2.5 H+R+R and cleared this 1.5 line at a healthy 62% clip. He’s taken things up a notch further of late, hitting in eight of his last 10 and 14 of the past 20.

On paper, a matchup with Luis Castillo is a difficult one. However, there’s reason to believe Caminero can still make noise.

Castillo is not in good form, allowing 24 hits, 14 earned runs, and five homers over his last three starts for the Seattle Mariners.

Caminero is 3-for-6 against Castillo with a triple and a homer. That shouldn’t be surprising given how well he profiles against Castillo’s mix.

Caminero owns ISOs of .368, .308, and .222 against Castillo’s three most frequent pitches thrown to right-handed batters.

After a couple quiet performances on the road, look for Caminero to get right back on track at home.

Mariners vs Rays same-game parlay (SGP)

Brandon Lowe is scorching hot, having piled up 16 H+R+R over his last four games. He is 3-for-8 against Castillo and profiles well against his pitch mix as well, giving him a good chance to build on his strong form.

Shane Baz has given up a lot of power to right-handed bats. Opposing righties have generated a .227 ISO, 1.9 homers per nine innings, and hit nearly as many extra base hits as singles.

Eugenio Suarez hasn’t seen Baz before but owns ISOs of .324 against two of Baz’s three most frequent pitches, setting him up for success in this matchup.
