The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels conclude a four-game series Sunday afternoon at Angel Stadium.

Kyle Hendricks takes the mound for the Halos, so opposing hitters will be licking their chops. See why I’m bullish on Randy Arozarena’s total bases prop with my Mariners vs. Angels predictions and MLB picks for Sunday, July 27.

Mariners vs Angels prediction

My Mariners vs Angels best bet: Randy Arozarena Over 1.5 total bases (+115 at Caesars)

Kyle Hendricks brings an uninspiring 4.92 ERA and 4.82 FIP into Sunday’s matinee against the Seattle Mariners.

The 35-year-old is one of the softest tossers in the Big Leagues, averaging 86.2 mph on his sinker. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that batters are hitting .286 against the offering. He ranks dead last in Stuff+ (83) among all starting pitchers.

The veteran doesn’t generate swings and misses (first percentile whiff rate), leading to a sixth percentile strikeout rate (15.6%). Since he also rarely issues walks (5.8% walk rate), he’ll pitch to contact in Sunday’s ball game.

Hendricks has been especially poor against right-handed hitters, allowing them to slash .309/.333/.559 while crushing him with a 5.68 FIP.

So, which Mariners hitter bats from the right-hand side and hits sinkers well? Enter Randy Arozarena. The outfielder has a higher wRC+ (168) against sinkers than any other pitch type in his career, and he’s posted a 132 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season.

He’s been hot, homering twice this series. There’s plus money available on him recording 2+ total bases, which is appealing considering he’s averaging 2.4 total bases in his last 10 games.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Mariners vs Angels same-game parlay (SGP)

Randy Arozarena Over 1.5 total bases

Mariners moneyline

Logan Gilbert 8+ strikeouts

The Mariners have won two of the first three games of the series and have to fancy their chances on Sunday with ace Logan Gilbert on the bump. They’ve come away victorious in five of his last six starts.

He’s recorded 19 strikeouts across his last two starts and should mow down a Los Angeles Angels lineup with a 23.1% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching in July.
