HR picks for August 14
Kyle Schwarber (+175 at DraftKings)
Kyle Schwarber is feared by so many pitchers around the big leagues, and for good reason. He’s putting up mammoth numbers again in 2025, clubbing 42 home runs, not far behind Cal Raleigh for the MLB lead. Schwarber has smacked five long balls already this month, with four in his last nine appearances.
The Philadelphia Phillies face Washington Nationals SP Brad Lord, who has allowed five of his seven homers to left-handed hitters, while Schwarber has 26 round-trippers off right-handed hurlers.
Lastly, Schwarber is already hitting over .300 this year against the Nats, with four bombs.
Juan Soto (+280 at DraftKings)
Juan Soto went deep for the 29th time on Wednesday, so why not keep it rolling? The slugger has really started to come alive for the New York Mets, now hitting .251 and sitting on the doorstep of 30 bombs. That’s more like the Soto we’re used to seeing.
The Dominican has four round-trippers in his last six appearances and is set to face Atlanta Braves starter Bryce Elder tonight, against whom he’s 2-for-3 with a home run.
Twenty-three of Soto’s long balls are off righties, and Elder has given up 18 bombs in only 19 starts.
Corbin Carroll (+195 at DraftKings)
We’ll finish off the day with one of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ brightest stars. Despite being a rather small player, Corbin Carroll has serious power, with 26 homers and 62 RBI. Carroll has left the yard five times in August, and he’ll be liking tonight’s matchup in Denver.
The elevation always helps the ball fly at Coors Field, but the Colorado Rockies are also just awful. Bradley Blalock takes the mound and has an ERA over seven. Carroll is 1-for-5 lifetime against him with you guessed it – a long ball.
Carroll has taken right-handed hurlers deep 21 times this season compared to only five homers off lefties. He also has 14 round-trippers on the road. On top of that, Carroll has clubbed two HRs versus Colorado already this year.
