After nine inconsistent seasons in the Majors, the 30-year-old righty is off to a 5-0 start with a sparkling ERA and a 0.85 WHIP. He's done well by stranding 89.1 percent of runners on base and giving up just 0.56 home runs per nine innings so far and has allowed more than one earned run just once in 10 starts this season.
Clayton Kershaw (7-3, 2.94 ERA): Kershaw hasn't needed a late-career resurgence: He just consistently remains among the league's top pitchers. The future Hall of Famer is using his fastball less and focusing more on his slider and curveball — and opponents are just hitting .179 and .167, respectively, off those breaking pitches. Kershaw is coming off an effort at Houston where he scattered four hits and one run across 7 2-3 innings.

An offense that averages 4.81 rpg on the season, the Giants bats finally showed up against Los Angeles over the last two days, cranking out 19 runs on 22 hits with 11 walks — and doing so against Walker Buehler and Julio Urias, two very high-quality arms.
While the Giants will be facing their toughest pitching matchup of series against Clayton Kershaw, who has issued multiple walks just twice in 11 starts and has a career 1.79 ERA versus the Giants, San Francisco is trotting out its ace this in Kevin Gausman.
Gausman has been a revelation at age 30, dominating opponents with a fastball-splitter combo, in which opponents are hitting .160 and .150 off those pitches.
