Teoscar Hernandez has been front and center in the fireworks we’ve seen over the last couple of games between Los Angeles and Colorado.
My Dodgers vs. Rockies predictions expect that trend to continue, with Hernandez getting the better of an inexperienced starter and a weak bullpen.
Let’s break it all down with my August 21 MLB picks.
Dodgers vs Rockies prediction
Dodgers vs Rockies best bet: Teoscar Hernandez Over 2.5 hits, runs, and RBI (-120)
Teoscar Hernandez is heating up. The veteran slugger has recorded at least three hits, runs, & RBI in five of the past eight games, including two of three in Denver.
That is par for the course when Hernandez faces the Colorado Rockies. He has averaged 3.1 hits, runs, and RBI per game over his last 13 played at Coors Field.
Given how hitter-friendly the ballpark is, and the Rockies’ lack of quality pitchers, it is no coincidence his numbers consistently skyrocket in Colorado.
The good times should continue Thursday night against Chase Dollander. The 23-year-old has struggled mightily in his first major league season, owning a 2-9 record and a putrid 6.43 ERA. He has given up a ton of power, allowing 15 homers through just 78 innings of work.
Dollander leans heavily on the fastball/curveball combination, playing into the hands of Hernandez. He has posted ISOs of .244 or higher against both pitches, the highest outputs he has against any pitch types.
The Los Angeles Dodgers should pile up the runs in this game and Hernandez is likely to play a big part.
Dodgers vs Rockies same-game parlay (SGP)
Jordan Beck is a singles machine in Colorado. He has at least one in 59% of his home games, a far cry from his 36% hit rate on the road.
We’ve seen a very similar split from Warming Bernabel, albeit over a smaller sample. He has a single in 62% of home dates compared to 45% of away games.
With a sky-high total of 12 runs, the offenses are projected to shine in this game.
