Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers were completely neutered offensively in their series opener. Ohtani finished hitless while the Dodgers scored just one run over 10 innings.

My Dodgers vs. Giants predictions see Ohtani and the road team bouncing back in Game 2.

Let’s take a closer look at my MLB picks for Saturday, September 13.

Dodgers vs Giants prediction

Dodgers vs Giants best bet: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)

Logan Webb is not a pitcher many players enjoy success against, but, unsurprisingly, Los Angeles Dodgers do-everything Shohei Ohtani is an exception to the rule.

Ohtani owns a .313 average and matching ISO in head-to-head battles with Webb. He mixes his pitches up well, throwing four different types at least 10% of the time against left-handed bats.

Unfortunately for Webb, there’s still no easy way to attack Ohtani. He has an ISO of .217 or higher vs. all four pitches, with his ISO clearing .300 against three of them.

When Webb eventually bows out of this game, Ohtani can look forward to facing a bullpen he’s feasted on over the years.

Ohtani is hitting .333 with a .381 ISO and .714 SLG% against relievers on the San Francisco Giants roster. Nine of the 14 hits he has recorded have gone for extra bases, including three home runs and a triple.

While Ohtani has gone a little quiet of late, and the matchup on paper is not easy, he has proven time and time again he’s plenty capable of doing damage against even the best opponents.

Dodgers vs Giants same-game parlay (SGP)

Webb is much more susceptible to giving up damage against lefties. They’ve hit .279 against him this season with twice as many doubles as righties and a noticeably higher ISO. Hitting behind Ohtani and a red-hot Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman is in a good spot to cash someone in.

Clayton Kershaw is quietly pitching very well. He’s allowed two runs or fewer in six of eight and owns a 2.70 FIP the past 30 days. If star bats like Ohtani and Freeman show up, the Dodgers should win.

Dodgers vs Giants SGP

  • Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases
