The Los Angeles Dodgers (38-25) and St. Louis Cardinals (34-28) begin a three-game weekend series on Friday night at Busch Stadium.
For today’s best bet, I’m eyeing Willson Contreras in the player prop market with my Dodgers vs. Cardinals predictions and free MLB picks for Friday, June 6.

My Dodgers vs Cardinals best bet: Willson Contreras Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130 at bet365)
Due to a regrettable number of starting pitcher injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers will throw out 24-year-old Justin Wrobleski for Friday’s series opener.
Across 45 ⅓ IP in the Big Leagues, the left-hander has accrued a 6.15 ERA and 6.13 FIP. Which, yikes.
He wasn’t showing a tremendous amount of progression at AAA this season, either, with a 5.09 ERA and 5.59 FIP.
Pitching on the road at Busch Stadium may be a challenge for the young hurler, as evidenced by his 8.10 ERA across 30 IP in away games in his MLB career.
Wrobleski hasn’t figured out how to routinely retire right-handed batters, sporting a 1.43 WHIP and 6.54 FIP against them with a 16% K rate and 10.7% walk rate.
One St. Louis Cardinals batter who should be ready to capitalize is Willson Contreras.
He’s hit lefties well this season (135 wRC+) and is in fine form, going 7-for-20 with seven RBI and four extra base hits in his last five games.
Wrobleski typically attacks right-handers with four-seamers, curveballs, and cutters. Contreras has favorable results against all three pitch types (142 wRC+ against four-seamers, 126 wRC+ against curves, 154 wRC+ against cutters).
Wrobleski, a former Oklahoma State product, probably doesn’t have the longest leash in this game, but he’s been operating as a starter in AAA and likely pitches through the lineup a few times.
Once things make it to the bullpen, Contreras still has a favorable outlook against an LA arm barn that has a 4.44 ERA and 4.77 xFIP since May 15.
The first baseman ranks in the 96th percentile in bat speed and has good results overall this season with a .373 xwOBA, .286 xBA, and .508 xSLG. I’ll bet on him recording 2+ total bases.
Dodgers vs Cardinals same-game parlay (SGP)
St. Louis has to like its chances on Friday with Sonny Gray on the mound going against a 24-year-old spot starter. The Cardinals are 20-10 at Busch Stadium while the Dodgers are a mediocre 15-14 on the road.
Ivan Herrera is another right-handed batter with a favorable matchup, going 11-for-42 (.344) with a 237 wRC+ in a small sample size against left-handed pitching.
The young backstop is making waves with a .397 xwOBA, a .297 xBA, and a .543 xSLG. He’s in fine form with at least one hit in four consecutive games, and he has a .362/.436/.660 slash line in 14 home games.
