My Diamondbacks vs Giants best bet: Giants moneyline (-105 at DraftKings)
The San Francisco Giants have been tough to beat at home, going 12-6 at Oracle Park. They’ve also been fantastic against right-handed starting pitchers (22-9).
Considering they’re at home against a RHP with troubling underlying metrics, I fancy San Francisco to break out of its current four-game losing streak with a win tonight.
Brandon Pfaadt’s career low 3.28 ERA looks good on the surface, but it’s supported by an unsustainable 82% left-on-base percentage (career 68.7%).
The 26-year-old’s 5.56 xERA is more concerning. That happens when you pitch to contact but frequently allow the loud variety, ranking in the ninth percentile in average exit velocity, 15th percentile in hard-hit rate, and sixth percentile in xBA.
Robbie Ray takes the mound for Bob Melvin’s squad, and the southpaw has been terrific with a 5-0 record and 2.84 ERA. The savvy veteran is known for generating strikeouts (25.4% K rate), and that combines with his 81st percentile xBA to form a favorable outlook.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been nothing special against left-handed pitchers, holding a 4-7 record and a 93 wRC+.
Once things reach the relievers, San Francisco can rely upon its MLB-best 2.48 ERA in relief. The DBacks have been a bit more shaky (4.95 ERA).
