Seiya Suzuki has had a disappointing couple of months from a power standpoint, but he’s still contributed offensively, particularly of late.

My Cubs vs. Braves predictions expect Suzuki to have another productive outing against Bryce Elder. Let’s take a closer look at my September 8 MLB picks.

Cubs vs Braves prediction

Cubs vs Braves best bet: Seiya Suzuki Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-120)

Seiya Suzuki hasn’t hit for much power of late. In fact, he hasn’t homered since August 6 and has only hit one since July 19. Even so, he’s found a way to be productive at the dish of late.

He has piled up 17 H+R+R over the last nine games and cleared this line in six of them, including two of three heading into this series.

Suzuki couldn’t ask for a much better matchup to build on that production and, perhaps, find his power at the plate.

Atlanta Braves starter Bryce Elder has not had a good season in any sense. While his play is trending in the right direction, he has still allowed at least four earned runs in seven of his last 14 games. He has real blow-up potential.

Suzuki has a good — albeit limited — track record vs. Elder as well, hitting safely in two of five at-bats with a triple along the way.

Suzuki owns a .273 average and .362 wOBA against sinkers thrown by righties this season. That happens to be Elder’s most-used pitch, throwing it more than 53% of the time when facing right-handed bats.

With a lot of talent surrounding Suzuki near the top of the Chicago Cubs order, there’s a real chance one hit is enough to get the job done.

Cubs vs Braves same-game parlay (SGP)

Carson Kelly has been a single machine away from Wrigley, picking up at least one in 58% of away games. He has hit righties well (.260 average), while Elder has allowed a much higher average to right-handed bats than lefties (.288 vs. .254).

Matt Olson has fared well against Shota Imanaga, hitting safely in three of five at-bats. Olson owns a higher average when facing left-handed bats but that comes at the expense of his power outputs, leading to more singles.

Cubs vs Braves SGP

  • Seiya Suzuki Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI
  • Carson Kelly 1+ singles
  • Matt Olson 1+ singles

Cubs vs Braves odds

  • Moneyline: Chicago -135 | Atlanta +110
