Cardinals vs Cubs Prediction, Picks & Odds — Saturday, September 27

The Cubs scored 12 runs on Friday thanks to a bunch of home runs. While more of the same can be expected against Cardinals SP Michael McGreevy, they won't have to do all the heavy lifting as St. Louis can exploit Jameson Taillon.

The Chicago Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals in the second matchup of this three-game series at Wrigley Field.

My Cardinals vs. Cubs predictions again expect the floodgates to open, as the Over is the most appealing bet on the board.

Read on for my MLB picks for Saturday, September 27.

Cardinals vs Cubs prediction

Cardinals vs Cubs best bet: Over 9.5 (-102)

Chicago Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon should serve as a good fade candidate this afternoon. Despite a recent string of strong results, Taillon’s underlying metrics remain poor.

He ranks in the bottom half of the league in expected ERA (xERA), expected batting average (xBA), strikeout rate, and barrel rate. The good news for Taillon is he should receive plenty of run support.

The Cubs rank in the Top 8 in runs scored per game, slugging percentage (SLG), on-base plus slugging (OPS), and home runs. That success at the plate will likely continue against St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Michael McGreevy.

Through 49 combined plate appearances against McGreevy, the current Chicago roster boasts a .336 xBA, .534 xSLG, and .385 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA).

McGreevy has also endured a difficult 2025 campaign, posting a 4.35 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 16 appearances.

His analytics are even worse, considering that McGreevy sports a 4.80 xERA and .290 xBA. He also ranks in the bottom half of the league in average exit velocity, strikeout rate, barrel rate, and hard-hit rate.

Cardinals vs Cubs same-game parlay (SGP)

Seiya Suzuki is one of the Chicago hitters who has fared well against McGreevy. Through six plate appearances, Suzuki boasts an .833 SLG with one home run.

He also enters this contest in strong form, having homered three times over the past two games.
