The Texas Rangers (53-50) aim to stay hot as they host the Atlanta Braves (44-57) for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday night at Globe Life Field.

Texas has made a significant move in the AL Wild Card picture after winning eight of its last 10 games.

Braves vs Rangers prediction

My Braves vs Rangers best bet: Under 8 (-110 at FanDuel)

Globe Life Field is where offense goes to die. The Texas Rangers have cashed the Under in 35 of their last 51 home games, and that’s a trend worth following.

Nathan Eovaldi (1.58 ERA) gets the call on Friday. The veteran has been superb in all areas, limiting free passes (4.0% walk rate), garnering strikeouts (27% K rate), and inducing grounders (88th percentile groundball rate).

The 35-year-old will be licking his chops against an Atlanta Braves team that is 1-4 in its last five games.

His pitching counterpart will be Joey Wentz, who has bounced around three teams this season and has settled into Atlanta’s rotation for now.

The southpaw has looked at his best in a Braves uniform, tossing seven shutout innings across two appearances, allowing just two hits while striking out eight batters.

Texas has struggled against lefties all year, and recent form is no different (74 wRC+ and 28.9% K rate in July). The Rangers are just 8-17 against left-handed starters this year.

Both bullpens will be refreshed after an off day on Thursday. It came at an opportune time as Wentz isn’t fully stretched out, and Eovaldi recently dealt with back tightness.

Rangers moneyline

Josh Jung Over 1.5 hits, runs, & RBI

Under 8.5

Texas is one of the hottest teams in the Big Leagues and is good at home (31-20), while Atlanta is in freefall and has had issues on the road (18-31).

Josh Jung looks improved since being recalled from a stint at AAA, going 4-for-8 with a home run across three games.

He’s had success against Wentz in the past (4-for-6 with a home run), which isn’t a surprise, as the southpaw struggles against right-handed hitters (1.79 WHIP and a .290/.379/.470 slash line).
