Blue Jays predictions for September 6

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Victory for Vladdy!

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (+110 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays aim for a second straight win against the New York Yankees this afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made his presence felt last night, going 4-for-5 with a home run and three runs scored. That's his third multi-hit game in a row, resulting in an average of 5.33 bases per game over that stretch, and I think the bat stays hot this afternoon in a good pitching matchup.

Luis Gil starts for New York. Vladdy is 2-for-4 with a double and three walks in seven at-bats against the Yankees starter, culminating in a 1.500 OPS.

Gil’s underlying metrics are not very good. He’s a mid-90s fastball thrower that elevates up in the zone, who sports a 5.12 xERA and an opponent batting average of .272.

Vladdy has a great eye for pitches up in the zone, sporting an OBP north of .400 when he sees elevated baseball in the zone. Moreover, he’s crushing the four-seamer this year, Gil’s most utilized pitch, hitting .336 and a .592 slug-rate against the fastball.

Additionally, Guerrero typically rakes at Yankee Stadium, with a .991 OPS with 16 home runs in New York, more than any other ballpark not named the Rogers Centre, while averaging 2.41 bases per game in that ballpark.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 runs

George Springer Over 2.5 total bases

I’ll continue to roll with Guerrero Jr.’s offense tonight and take him to score a run. He’s crossed home plate in four of his last five games, totaling nine runs in that stretch. Many thanks to his .600 OBP over those five games.

For the final leg, I’ll back George Springer to have a big game with the bat as well and go Over 2.5 total bases this afternoon. Springer is hitting .421 over his last 10 games and has averaged 3.2 bases per game in that stretch.
