We’ve got a busy betting slate around Major League Baseball tonight, including the series opener between the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins.
We’ve got a great pitching matchup on our hands with Max Scherzer and Joe Ryan on the hill, but I give the edge to Mad Max, who’s been pitching well recently and has gotten more run support from Toronto’s lineup than Ryan has from Minnesota’s.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: A maxed-out effort
Pick (+140 at BetVictor)
The Toronto Blue Jays host the Minnesota Twins in the opening match of a three-game set at the Rogers Centre.
We’ll get a good pitching duel to kick things off with Twins ace Joe Ryan vs the surging veteran Max Scherzer on the mound.
Scherzer has been on fire since the calendar flipped to August. He’s 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 17 strikeouts, going at least six full innings in each of those starts.
Mad Max is back!
When the Jays get good pitching, they usually churn out the victory, much like they have in three of the last four Scherzer starts, and I expect that trend to continue tonight against a Twins squad on the downturn.
Minnesota is 2-8 in their last 10 games, with a .214 batting average and a .665 OPS, scoring only 3.6 runs per game, while striking out 8.8 times per game.
Scherzer shouldn’t have much trouble taming this lineup, going deep enough into the ball game to get the decision. But what about the Jays' bats? Can they give him the run support to get the decision?
Absolutely.
Toronto is averaging 5.1 runs per game over its last 10 contests, sporting a .714 OPS.
The Jays beat Ryan and the Twins back on June 8, tagging him for three runs in five innings of work. The Twins’ starter was also roughed up in his last outing against the pesky Athletics, surrendering five runs on seven hits in just four innings of work.
Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)
For the second leg of the SGP, I’ll continue to back Scherzer and take him to go Over 17.5 outs tonight. He’s gone Over that total in five straight starts, seeing his pitch count reach 100 in his last outing. With the Twins offense struggling, I expect a deep, quality start out of the Jays' hurler.
For the final leg, let’s take Bo Bichette to go Over 1.5 hits. The Jays slugger has a hit in nine straight games, posting three multi-hit performances over his last four outings.
