Astros vs Braves best bet: Atlanta Braves moneyline (+110)
The Atlanta Braves just dropped two of three to the Chicago Cubs, but there’s reason to believe they will bounce back in the series opener versus the Houston Astros. Braves starter Hurston Waldrep has posted a 1.33 ERA through seven starts, with opponents hitting just .191.
The youngster has been a bright spot in Atlanta's otherwise poor season. He’s compiled a 1.50 ERA at home across three outings, giving up just three earned runs in 18 innings of work. The Braves have also won three straight against the Astros.
Houston just got shut out 6-0 by the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday, with Kevin Gausman throwing a complete game. The Astros' offense isn’t exactly coming in hot, and Waldrep should benefit and help his team grind out a victory.
Astros vs Braves same-game parlay (SGP)
As previously mentioned, Waldrep hasn’t given up a whole lot of runs since coming up to the Majors. While he had a brief cup of coffee last year, he’s been handed a bigger role in 2025 due to Atlanta’s injuries.
Waldrep has surrendered Under 2.5 earned runs in every single start since getting called up. He allowed just two earned runs last time out against the Seattle Mariners.
Yordan Alvarez finished 0-for-4 on Thursday, but he had cashed the Over in total bases in three of his four previous games. The Cuban put together a pair of multi-hit games in the first two games of the Blue Jays series. He’s batting .272 against right-handed pitchers.
