Gogel is not allowed to participate in PGA Tour Champions events from Aug. 23 through Feb. 22, 2027. Gogel cooperated with the investigation.
The Tour prohibits players, caddies, officials, and family members from betting on any of its tournaments, regardless of whether or not that player is in the field. Participants are allowed to legally wager on other sports leagues.

Gogel acknowledges mistakes
Gogel released a statement posted by the PGA Tour in which he acknowledged making small “recreational” bets in 2024 and 2025.
“I want to be clear that these wagers were not placed on regular PGA Tour events, PGA Tour Champions events or any tournament in which I participated,” Gogel said. “I would never knowingly violate the integrity of the game of golf. I made an honest mistake, and I look forward to playing in 2027 on the PGA Tour Champions.”

Light gambling history
The PGA Tour hasn’t seen the kind of gambling scandals found in the NBA and MLB, and the organization has one of the more lenient integrity policies.
This is the first gambling-related suspension handed down by the Tour since October 2023. Korn Ferry Tour players Vince India and Jake Staiano previously served six-month suspensions for betting on tournaments they didn’t play in.
Golf’s most prominent professional organization has partnered with sportsbooks since 2020, two years after PASPA was overturned and states began legalizing sports betting.
PGA Tour Champions, formerly known as the PGA Senior Tour, is made up of professional golfers age 50 and older.
