The U.S. District Attorney's office is reportedly investigating free agent guard Malik Beasley on allegations he wagered on NBA games.
ESPN basketball reporter Shams Charania reported Sunday on X that Beasley, who played for the Detroit Pistons last season, bet on games and also made prop wagers during the 2023-24 campaign, which he spent with the Milwaukee Bucks.

In a follow-up message on X, Charania reported that Beasley's attorney, Steve Haney, told ESPN that "an investigation is not a charge," and that Beasley has not yet been charged.
Beasley and the Pistons were reportedly discussing a three-year contract worth $42 million, but talks are on hold while the investigation continues.
The 28-year-old is coming off a solid first season with Detroit, averaging 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He has also played with Denver, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Utah and the Los Angeles Lakers over the course of his nine-year NBA career, averaging 11.7 points in 578 career games.
Beasley took home $6 million in 2024-25, and has earned just under $60 million over his time in the NBA.
The latest instance of athletes betting on sports sent shockwaves through an NBA community still reeling over former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Portner being banned by the NBA for betting on league games and manipulating playing time to aid a group of bettors. Porter, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy in July 2024, is expected to be sentenced Dec. 10.
