Kentucky Sports Betting Handle Down 19.2% in February

Kentucky's online sportsbooks reached over $218.9 million in wagers, a month-on-month decline of 19.2%, dropping from $270.9 million.

February was a disappointing month for the legal online Kentucky sports betting sites. The Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation revealed that its online sportsbooks reached over $218.9 million in wagers, a month-on-month decline of 19.2%, dropping from $270.9 million. Assorted gross revenue also decreased last month, declining from $32.2 million to $28.8 million, a difference of 10.5%.

The state’s retail sportsbooks didn’t fair any better, with wagers declining 6.1%, falling from $6.1 million in January 2025 to $5.7 million in February. Revenue also decreased month-on-month, declining from $696,882 to $458,262, a drop of 34.2%. 

Winnings for Kentucky bettors were also considerably down in February, with online sportsbooks producing $189.5 million, nearly a $50 million decrease compared to the previous month, which generated $238 million. 

DraftKings beats out FanDuel for highest handle

Compared to January 2025, FanDuel topped the charts with the highest grossing handle and revenue of $96.2 million and $12.9 million, respectively. Last month, however, DraftKings took the lead with a handle of $80.7 million and revenue of $11.9 million. 

Bet365 and Caesars remained a respectable third and fifth in the rankings, the same as January 2025. However, BetMGM and Fanatics Sportsbook switched places, with Fanatics grossing the lowest handle and revenue out of the Bluegrass State’s top six sportsbooks.

The Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation currently licenses eight online sportsbooks in the Bluegrass State, all of which report month-on-month declines. 

DraftKings’ handle dropped from $95 million to $80.7 million, and revenue declined from $13.2 million to $11.9 million. FanDuel dropped from $96.2 million to $74 million, the second-greatest decline from all eight sportsbooks, with a month-on-month decrease of 23.1%. 

Fanatics Sportsbook ended up being the operator with the most significant decline, with wagers dropping nearly $5 million in February 2025 from $15.2 million to $10.1 million - a month-on-month decrease of 32.9%. 

The lowest-grossing sportsbooks in February were PENN Sports Interactive and Circa Sportsbook, with the operators generating a handle of $5.6 million and $2.3 million, respectively. Both recorded declines compared to January 2025, with PENN Sports dropping from $7.5 million and Circa Sportbook decreasing from $2.9 million.
